Who is Promise Tamang Phan?

Promise Tamang Phan is a YouTuber, and make-up artist by profession, and American by nationality. She is well known for her makeup skills and is the sister-in-law of former YouTuber and beauty guru Michelle Phan. 

Promise Tamang Phan – Bio, Age, Parents, Siblings

Promise Tamang’s birth took place on 29 July 1989 in Kathmandu, Nepal. She was born as Pratigya Tamang to her father Mohan Tamang and her mother Sangita Tamang, who were both missionaries. 

She is not the only child of her Nepali parents and has three siblings- sisters Pratichya Tamang, Rose Tamang, and Angelina Tamang. Rose is also a YouTuber. The Tamang family fostered a baby boy named Rubin, whose mother had died of typhoid and whose father was an alcoholic. When Rubin was 9, he was returned to his father.

Growing up, Tamang loved to dance and doodle. When Promise Tamang Phan was around 12 years old, the family moved to the United States. There she completed elementary and middle school. Just about when she was going to go in the 9th grade, the Tamang family returned to Nepal. 

Since Nepali schools were getting too tough for her, her parents sent her to the US to complete high school. Promise Tamang Phan went to a small private high school. After graduation, she went to bible college. 

Her ethnicity is Nepalese.

Tamang’s father had always been strict when it came to dating. So the sisters were not allowed to date until they were 21-23 years old.

Promise Tamang met Vietnamese-American Steve Phan online and the two soon began dating. Steve, who is an engineer is the brother of makeup guru Michelle Phan. After months of a romantic relationship, she married her longtime boyfriend on 11 July 2010.

Promise Tamang Phan and her husband shared the news of their pregnancy in 2021 and welcomed their son Kyro Siah Phan in August 2021.

Promise Tamang Phan – Career

While Tamang worked a day job, she loved to watch her icon Michael Jackson on YouTube. One day while on YouTube, she came across a YouTube makeup tutorial video. Inspired, Promise Tamang began to upload makeup tutorials- the first one being a transformation video featuring Avatar makeup in January 2010.  

After years of hard work and impressive make-up tutorials and transformations, Promise Tamang has gained millions of subscribers. As of October 2019, her YouTube channel – dope2111 has around 6 million subscribers. 

Tamang is known for her transformation makeup techniques and has transformed herself into celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Scarlett Johansson, Kim Kardashian, Adriana Lima, etc.
