Rachel Zegler is a singer, actress by profession, and American by nationality. Colombian by descent she is well known for starring in the remake of West Side Story as Maria Nunez.

Rachel Zegler’s birth took place on May 3, 2001, in Clifton, New Jersey, USA. She was born to her mother Colombian Gina Zegler and her father Craig Zegler who is of Polish, German, and Italian descent. She is not the only child of her parents and has a sibling- an older sister named Jacqueline.

Early Days

Zegler’s interest in acting and theatre began when she was still a young girl and grew over the years. Throughout her school days, she performed leading roles in school musicals and local theaters. She also worked as a wedding singer before signing with ICM Partners at the age of 18.

Films, Series

In a December 2018 Twitter video, she sang Shallow from the movie A Star Is Born (2018). The video went viral which gained her much attention.

Finally, in January 2019, it was announced that Rachel Zegler had been cast as Maria Nunez in the remake of West Side Story (2020), directed by Steven Spielberg. She had been selected among 30,000 people auditioning for the role.
