After completing his college education, Scott moved to New York City to further his career in acting and writing. After appearing in several television commercials and roles in the off-Broadway play Cargo, he landed his breakthrough role as the lead in the Fox pilot With You in Spirit (2002). This also earned him a Screen Actors Guild card.

Since then Scott has starred in the films Amusement (2009), I'll See You in My Dreams (2015), Home Again (2017), Venom (2017), Late Night (2019), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), to name a few. He has also appeared in the TV films With You In Spirit (2003), and Revenge of the Middle-Aged Woman (2004).
