Robin Roberts’ birth took place on November 23, 1960, in Tuskegee, Alabama, USA. She was born Robin Rene Roberts to her mother Lucimarian Roberts and her father Colonel Lawrence E. Roberts, who was a pilot with the Tuskegee Airmen.
She is not the only child of her parents and has 3 siblings among which she is the youngest. Her siblings are named Sally-Ann Roberts, Lawrence “Butch” Roberts Jr., and Dorothy Roberts.

Early Career
After completing her education, she took in her older sister Sally-Ann Robert’s footsteps who worked as an anchor at the CBS affiliate WWL-TV in New Orleans.
In 1983 Robin Roberts started her professional career for WDAM-TV, holding the post of sports anchor and reporter. She then moved to WLOX-TV in 1984, WSMV-TV in 1986, and WAGA-TV from 1988 to 1990.
With ESPN, ABC
In February 1990 Robin Roberts landed the opportunity to join ESPN as a sportscaster for SportsCenter. She also began to work for ABC News’s Good Morning America (GMA) in June 1995. Roberts juggled her time between the two stations for years.
Robin Roberts was promoted to co-anchor of Good Morning America in 2005 and she left ESPN the same year. After she was joined by George Stephanopoulos as co-anchor of GMA, the team led GMA back to the top of ratings in April 2012.
Others
Aside from her work with ESPN and ABC, Roberts is also known for anchoring the Mississippi Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina, hosting the Academy Awards pre-show for ABC in 2010 and 2011, and co-anchoring the Royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 19, 2018.
Moreover, she appeared in season 4, episode 10 of Disney Channel's Hannah Montana and was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.

She had been a subject of controversy with two of her interviews. In March 2011 she interviewed Chris Brown while promoting his album F.A.M.E. She frequently asked Brown about his relationship with singer Rihanna, whom he had assaulted on February 8, 2009.
Similarly in a November 2016 interview with Nate Parker who was there to promote his film Birth Of a Nation, Robin Roberts asked about his 1999 rape charges and went on to ask him if he wanted to apologize.
