Langford played basketball in both high school and college and was a top basketball player. He had started playing basketball in the first grade, taking inspiration from NBA player LeBron James.
As a high school freshman, he led his team to a 23–3 record with 17.1 points and 6.0 rebounds. In Romeo Langford’s sophomore year, he averaged 30.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game and led New Albany to a 27–1 record and a Class 4A state championship.
In his junior year, his average was 28.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, and he led the team to a 25–4 record and to the Class 4A state quarterfinals. While in his senior season, he scored a career-high 63 points against Jennings County.

College Career
After graduating from high school, Romeo Langford joined the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team in 2018. In the 2018-19 season, he played 32 games and maintained the stats as – 5.4 RPG, 2.3 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.8 BPG, and 16.5 PPG.
After the season, he declared for the 2019 NBA draft and was selected with the 14th pick by the Boston Celtics.
