Ryan Hall is a mixed martial artist by profession and American by nationality. He is a black belt, and instructor in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and competed in the featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Early Career
Hall began to train in mixed martial arts at Tristar Gym in Montreal, Canada in 2012, having begun learning in martial arts in January 2004. In his early career, he fought in the cage at SLAMM-1, Challenge MMA 2 card, Fight Lab 35, and United Combat League.
It was announced on August 31, 2015, that Ryan Hall would compete in the 22nd season of The Ultimate Fighter and will be representing Team USA. He fought against Johnny Nunez, Frantz Slioa, Saul Rogers, and Artem Lobov. He won the Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale after defeating Lobov and became the Ultimate Fighter 22 lightweight winner.

In the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Ryan Hall fought and won against Gray Maynard (December 3, 2016) at The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale, B.J. Penn (December 29, 2018) at UFC 23, and Darren Elkins (July 13, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 13.
As of July 2019, he has had 9 matches, among which he has won 8 and lost 1. Among the wins, he won 2 by knockout, 3 by submission, and 3 by decision. His 1 loss was by decision.
Hall has also released eight sets of best-selling instructional DVDs “that have garnered wide acclaim for both their technical content and the clarity of Ryan’s teaching method.”

In 2011 a video of Hall went viral. He was enjoying dinner in the company of friends when a large man approached the table, requesting a lighter. After being informed that the table was comprised of non-smokers, the man became enraged.
Ryan Hall was recorded trying to calm down a large aggressive man in a pizza parlor. But when the potential attacker refused to calm down, he used grappling techniques to defend himself. He used double leg takedown and the mount position and later used a chokehold on the man shortly before the police arrived. The video also promoted anti-bullies campaigns all over the world.
