Anderson began his career as an actor in the late 2000s, his debut screen role being in six episodes of the TV series Overruled! (2009) as Ed. This was followed by minor appearances in the films Nostrum (2010), The Barrens (2012), Across the Line (2015), and Love Jacked (2018).

Meanwhile, he also had guest roles in the episodes of the TV series Todd and the Book of Pure Evil (2011), King (2011), Degrassi: The Next Generation (2011), Lost Girl (2012), Played (2013), Defiance (2014), The Next Step (2013-2014), Constantine (2015), Pitch (2016), Shots Fired (2017),   etc.

Finally, in 2016, he was cast as U.S. Deputy Marshal Xavier Dolls in the TV series Wynonna Earp. Shamier Anderson portrayed the character for a total of 27 episodes until 2018, and it is considered his breakthrough role.
