Who is Stephen Dixon?

Stephen Dixon is a British new presenter and has been working for Sky News on Sky Television. Most of all, he is known for his presenting skills on Sky News at Seven and Sky News at Ten.

Stephen Dixon – Age, Parents, Siblings

Stephen Dixon’s birth took place on March 01, 1974, in Newton-in-Furness, Lancashire, England. His mother Lynda Dixon used to work as a primary school teacher while his father ran his own company helping hospices across the country raise millions of pounds in extra revenue. 

Both of his grandfathers used to work in shipyard building and had built some of the most famous vessels in Britain's fleet, including HMS Invincible. 

As for siblings, he has a brother named Richard Dixon. Moreover, he has stated that he has a nephew, Thomas, and a niece Isobel.

Education, Ethnicity

For education, he attended Nottingham Trent University where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Arts in 1995. He is now the President of the NTU Alumni. His ethnicity is English.

Dixon was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 17 and chooses to follow a vegetarian lifestyle.

Stephen Dixon – Boyfriend, Children, Husband, Divorce

Some online sources have claimed that he was a married man, having married his longtime girlfriend. It also adds that he has a son, born in 2000 with his wife, who had died. However, referring to his social media sites, it is safe to say that it is false information without a basis.

On May 19, 2022, Dixon shared on social media that he was getting married the same day to his longtime boyfriend Timmy. He posted a picture of his wedding ceremony on May 22, 2022. His husband is in the navy but they have chosen to keep his identity a private affair.

Stephen Dixon – Career 

Before fame

Stephen Dixon began his career in journalism while still a student with Radio Lonsdale, the Furness General Hospital radio. After graduation, he began working as a television journalist with Independent Television News (ITN). 

After less than a year there, he was selected to produce the programs ITV Morning News, and ITN World News on NBC Superchannel. In 1997 he worked at ITN as Senior Producer and Programme Editor on Five News Early.

He soon began to present for late night and 8 am Five News Updates.

Worked in 

In 2000, he left Five News and started presenting Sky News on the hour, Simply Money while also working as a Programme Editor of Channel 4 the Big Breakfast News.

In 2003, Stephen Dixon started to work full-time at Sky News where he presented Sky News Sunrise, Sky News Today, Live at Five, and Sky News at Ten. Now, he has his own show Sunrise with Stephen Dixon.

Stephen Dixon has reported for famous channels such as NBC Superchannel, and Channel 5 as well. In 2018, he published a poetry anthology titled Love is the Beauty of the Soul.

Dixon has worked with Denis Tuohy, Scott Chisholm, Becky Anderson, Angela Rippon, Isabel Webster, Rachel Stevens, and Gillian Joseph.

Stephen Dixon – Controversy

Dixon was co-presenting a Sky News Sunrise discussion about The Fawcett Society reports which found out that "almost two out of five men and a third of women thought a woman was totally or partly to blame if she went out late at night wearing a short skirt, got drunk and was then sexually assaulted."

During the discussion, Stephen Dixon said that the victim should take personal responsibility in such cases. Angry viewers tweeted out to Dixon, who then responded in a now-deleted tweet, "What's wrong with taking some personal responsibility ?".

For his remarks, he has been heavily criticized and was labeled “disgraceful”, "disappointing", and "disgusting".
