Ford worked as a contractor and carpenter when he teamed up with his sister Leanne to redesign a grungy schoolhouse attic into a master bath. The transformation was picked up by Country Living and featured on the cover of design books, which catapulted both their careers.

With HGTV

In 2017 Ford was selected to host HGTV’s show Restored by the Fords alongside his sister Leanne Ford. Since then he has also worked in TV shows Rock the Block (2019), and A Very Brady Renovation (2019). 

Their work has also been featured in numerous magazines including Architectural Digest, Domino, GQ, Lonny, Elle Decor, Martha Stewart, Better Homes and Gardens, Redbook, MyDomaine, and the New York Times. 

Moreover, Steve Ford runs his own business. He runs two clothing stores Decade and Surf Pittsburg. 

The siblings teamed up once again to write a book Work in Progress: Unconventional Thoughts on Designing an Extraordinary Life, which was released in 2019.
