Suranne Jones was born on 27 August 1978 in Chadderton, Greater Manchester, England. She was born as Sarah Anne Jones to parents Chris Jones, an engineer, and Jenny Jones, a secretary. She is not the only child of her parents and has a sibling, an older brother named Gary Jones.

Growing up, Jones revealed that she was talkative and her priest would say to her, "I'm praying you can concentrate just a bit more."

For education, Suranne Jones joined Cardinal Langley Roman Catholic High School. She was a member of the Oldham Theatre Workshop and completed a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts.

Suranne Jones and her husband welcomed a son in March 2016. The couple has not shared the name of their baby boy as of now. There are no news of divorce surrounding the couple as well.

Before fame

Jones began her professional career at the age of 16, having taken the stage at the age of 8 in Wait Until Dark as Gloria. She began to use the stage name Suranne, having obtained an agent at the age of 15.

Her first role was in 1997’s Coronation Street as Mandy Phillips and Karen Phillips in 2000. After four years of playing Karen, she left the show in May 2004. The show and her role have gained her much recognition.
