Who is Tae Dye?

Tae Dye is a professional singer, songwriter, and American national. She is one half of the musical duo Maddie & Tae, the other one being Maddie Marlow.

Tae Dye’s birth took place on September 18, 1995, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, USA. She was born as Taylor Elizabeth Dye to mother Laura San Giacomo and father Cameron Dye. She is not the only child of her parents and has two older siblings, brothers Preston Dye and Mason Dye, who is now an actor of Teen Wolf fame.

After graduating from High School in Dallas, Tae Dye moved to Nashville.

Dye married her longtime boyfriend, Josh Kerr, also a country singer, on 21 February 2020 in Nashville. The couple announced their engagement in September 2019 after more than a year of dating. She and his husband welcomed their first child, a daughter named Leighton Grace Kerr, on January 17, 2022, and she was born three months premature.

The pair welcomed their second child, son Chapel Shields Kerr, on October 29, 2024.

The couple is in a blissful marriage, living without news of extra-marital affairs and divorce.

Tae Dye – Career

Early Days

In 2010, Tae Dye and Maddie Marlow were learning under the same vocal coach. The pair eventually met, when both were 15 years old, at a showcase in Dallas and went on to perform together under the name Sweet Aliana throughout the year.

Tae Dye has occupied the role of background vocals as well as a left-handed guitarist, while Maddie Marlow is the lead vocalist, a right-handed guitarist, and a mandolin player.

Following graduation from high school, the duo moved to Nashville, and in June 2014, were signed with Dot Records. After their label Dots folded in 2017, the pair, who had undertaken the name  Maddie & Tae, signed with the Mercury Nashville label in early 2018.

Albums, EP

Maddie & Tae released their first self-titled extended play on November 4, 2014. They went on to release their next two EPs, One Heart to Another (released April 26, 2019) and Everywhere I'm Goin' (released October 18, 2019). 

The pair has also released two studio albums, Start Here (August 2015) and The Way It Feels (April 2020), and six singles. Their single Girl in a Country Song was branded RIAA: Platinum, while Fly and Die from a Broken Heart was branded RIAA: Gold.

Aside from their acting career, Tae Dye has had TV appearances. She has starred in Nashville (2012), Dungeon Warrior: Legend of the Blue Diamond (2016), and Maddie & Tae: Girl in a Country Song (2014).

Moreover, with her bandmate, she has teamed up with Bloomingdale, to release their clothing line in 2016 and their capsule collection AQUA x Maddie and Tae a few years later.
