Who is Thomas Thibodeau?

Thomas Thibodeau is a basketball coach by profession and American by nationality. He was the head coach, president of basketball operations of the Minnesota Timberwolves of the National Basketball Association (NBA), and assistant coach for the United States men's national basketball team.

Thomas Thibodeau’s birth took place on January 17, 1958, in New Britain, Connecticut, USA. He was born Thomas Joseph Thibodeau Jr. to his father Thomas J. Thibodeau Sr. and his mother Ann M. Thibodeau.

He is not the only child of her parents and has four siblings – brothers Dennis Thibodeau, and David Thibodeau, and sisters Nancy Thibodeau, and Janet Thibodeau.

For education he attended Salem State University from 1977 to 1981, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science in counseling. He had studied at New Britain High School.

His ethnicity is Caucasian.

Thomas Thibodeau is unmarried and sans wife, and children. However, while a student at the university he was engaged to his longtime girlfriend Debbie. But the couple broke up just a month or two before the wedding.

Thomas Thibodeau – Career

While at  Salem State University he served as captain during the 1980-81 season. After graduation, Thomas Thibodeau worked as an assistant coach at Salem State from 1981 to 1984 and as head coach from 1984 to 1985.

Thomas Thibodeau then served as an assistant coach at Harvard from 1985 to 1989. He entered NBA in 1989 as an assistant coach for Minnesota Timberwolves. Since then he has worked as an assistant coach for San Antonio Spurs (1992 – 1994), Philadelphia 76ers (1994 – 1996), New York Knicks (1996 – 2004), Houston Rockets (2004–2007), and as an associate head coach for Boston Celtics (2007 – 2010).

In 2010 Thomas Thibodeau was selected as head coach of the Chicago Bulls and worked for the team until 2015. He returned to Minnesota Timberwolves as head coach in 2016, working with the team until 2019.

As head coach he was named NBA Coach of the Year (2011), NBA All-Star Game head coach (2012), and as assistant coach Thomas Thibodeau was named 2008’s NBA champion.
