At a time, she held two jobs while in Norfolk, Virginia - delivering morning news and as a Communications Director for the March Of Dimes. Toni Yates was a General Assignment reporter job at WGAL and later at WB 17 where she worked as a weekend anchor-medical reporter before being promoted to weekday anchor. She worked at WB 17 from 1994 to 2005.

Finally, Yates landed a job at WABC-TV as a news reporter and anchorwoman and currently works there.
