Tony Goldwyn is an actor, singer, producer, director, and political activist by profession and American by nationality. Among all his roles, he is best known for his role in Ghost, The Last Samurai, and Scandal and lent his voice in the film Tarzan.

Tony Goldwyn’s birth took place on May 20, 1960, in Los Angeles, California, USA. He was born Anthony Howard Goldwyn to parents Jennifer Howard, an actress, and Samuel Goldwyn Jr., a film producer.

He comes from a family of entertainers and has a lot of famous names in his family. His paternal grandfather Samuel Goldwyn, a Polish Jewish immigrant mogul wed his paternal grandmother Frances Howard, an actress. His maternal grandparents, Sidney Howard, and actress Clare Eames were playwrights.

Goldwyn has three siblings, brothers John Goldwyn, and Francis Goldwyn and a sister Catherine Howard Goldwyn. He is also the uncle of Emily Goldwyn and the stepson of Peggy Elliott. Moreover, his half-siblings are Liz Goldwyn and Peter Goldwyn. Both John and Peter are now film producers.

For education, Tony Goldwyn attended Hamilton College and Brandeis University from where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He also studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and acting at HB Studio.

Goldwyn married his longtime girlfriend Jane Michelle Musky, an art designer on 18 April 1987. The couple has welcomed two children together, daughters named Anna Musky-Goldwyn (born on May 8, 1990) and Tess Frances Goldwyn (born on March 6, 1995).

Anna is now a screenwriter and producer. He and his wife are happily married without rumors of extra-marital affairs or divorce.

Before fame

The aspiring actor began his professional career soon after his graduation in the mid-1980s. His first roles were in the films Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986), Gaby: A True Story (1987), and in the TV series Designing Women (1987), Favorite Son (1988), Murphy Brown (1988).

Finally, in 1990, he landed his breakthrough role as Carl Bruner in the film Ghost, for which he was nominated Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor.
