Following graduation in 2001, he worked as a stage actor at Oslo Nye Teater. He worked in the theater production of Amadeus, Manndomsprøven, Tatt av kvinnen, etc.

Aurvåg’s debut screen role was in the 1997 film Junk Mail. This was followed by roles in the film Bloody Angels (1998) as Tommy and in the short film Døren som ikke smakk (2000) as Main. Finally, he was cast in the recurring role of Steven Evensen in the TV series Nissene på låven (2001). Trond Fausa Aurvåg portrayed the character for a total of 24 episodes which helped him land more work.
