Victoria Monet is a singer and songwriter by profession and American by nationality. She has written songs for Ariana Grande, Nas, T.I., Lupe Fiasco, Chrisette Michele, Coco Jones, Diddy Dirty Money, Janelle Monáe, and Jasmine V. Monet is also known for Ariana Grande collaborated song Monopoly.

Victoria Monet’s birth took place on May 1, 1989, in Georgia, United States. She was born as Victoria Monét McCants to an African American mother named L'Tanya Chestang-Cubit and a French father whose identity has not been revealed. She also has a sibling- a half-brother named Michael Cubit, Jr.
As her parents separated when she was young, her mother made the hard decision to leave her with her grandmother. Monet’s mother worked three jobs to afford an education.

Before fame
While at the local performing arts high school Victoria Monet taught at two different dance studios, rehearsed with the local dance group Boogie Monstarz and worked at a local bank. Soon, she developed a new passion for poetry while educating herself on the production world.
She began her professional career in 2008. She had added Rodney Jerkins (aka Darkchild) on Myspace who later invited her to audition for a new girl group he was forming, Purple Reign in Los Angeles. A year later, the group landed a record deal with Motown but was eventually dropped by the label.

Eventually, in 2014, her songs were sold to artists like Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Ariana Grande, Nas, T.I., B.o.B, Chrisette Michele, Mario, and Diddy Dirty Money, among others. Already an established songwriter, she was offered a record deal by Craig Kallman, CEO of Atlantic Records.

On October 30, 2014, Monet’s debut EP Nightmares & Lullabies: Act 1 was released. This was followed by the release of the follow-up EP Nightmares & Lullabies – Act 2 on June 17, 2015.
In 2016, along with JoJo, she was the opening act for Fifth Harmony on The 7/27 Tour. In 2016, she released the singles Do You Like It and Better Days with Ariana Grande. The same year, Victoria Monet served as an opening act along with Little Mix on the Dangerous Woman Tour.
On February 23, 2018, she released her third EP Life After Love, Pt. 1 followed by EP Life After Love, Pt. 2 on September 28, 2018. She again collaborated with Ariana Grande on the 2019 song Monopoly.
