Who is Zhou Xun?
Zhou Xun is an actress, and singer by profession, and Chinese, Hong Kong by nationality. Considered one of the Four Dan Actresses of China, she gained international fame with the films Suzhou River, Balzac, and The Little Chinese Seamstress.

Zhou Xun’s birth took place on October 18, 1974, in Quzhou, Zhejiang, China. She was born to her father Zhou Tianyu, a local film projectionist, and her mother Chen Yiqin, a salesperson at a department store. She might not be the only child of her parents and may have a younger sibling, a sister.

For education, Zhou Xun attended Quzhou No.1 Middle School and after graduation enrolled at Zhejiang Vocational Academy of Art.

Zhou Xun – Boyfriend, Husband, Children
Zhou Xun married her longtime boyfriend Archie Kao, an American actor on 16 July 2014. She had married her husband onstage following a charity show in Hangzhou, China. The couple has yet to welcome children.
The marriage was short-lived and the pair divorced in 2020.

Early Career
Xun’s first role was in the film Strange Tales Amongst Old and Desolate Tombs, for which she was handpicked from her school. Later on, in the 1991 film Old Grave, she landed a minor role. This was followed by minor roles in the films Temptress Moon (1996), The Emperor and the Assassin (1999), and in the TV series The Police Scene (1998), and Maid In Green (1999).
Breakthrough
In 2000 Zhou Xun was cast as young Princess Taiping in the film Palace of Desire which gained her recognition in China. Her breakthrough came the same year with Lou Ye's Suzhou River and was named one of the Four Dan Actresses alongside Zhang Ziyi, Zhao Wei, and Xu Jinglei.
In 2002 Zhou Xun starred in the Franco-Chinese romance drama film Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress which gained her international recognition.

Since her rise to stardom, Zhou Xun has starred in films Hollywood Hong Kong (2001), Where Have All the Flowers Gone (2002), Beauty Remains (2005), The Banquet (2006), All About Women (2008), The Founding of a Party (2011), Meet Miss Anxiety (2014), Last Letter (2018), among others.
She also starred in the TV series April Rhapsody, Love Story in Shanghai (2001), The Legend of the Condor Heroes (2003), Red Sorghum (2014), and Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace (2018).
As a singer, Xun released two albums – Summer (2003), and Come Across (2005), and more than 50 singles.
