Zosia Mamet was born on February 2, 1988, in Randolph, Vermont, USA as Zosia Russell Mamet. Her father is American playwright, essayist, screenwriter, and film director David Mamet and her mother is American actress Lindsay Crouse.
After her parents divorced in 1990, her mother moved to Pacific Palisades, California with her and her sibling – sister Willa Mamet.
From Mamet’s father's second marriage to actress and singer-songwriter Rebecca Pidgeon (since 1991), she has two half-siblings – Noah Mamet (half-brother) and Clara Mamet (half-sister).
Zosia Mamet’s mother went on to marry Rick Blue in 1998, making him her stepfather.
Mamet also has other famous personalities in her family. Her maternal grandfather was playwright Russel Crouse and her maternal great-grandfather was educator John Erskine.

Mamet’s debut screen role was at the age of 6 – in the 1994 TV movie Parallel Lives as Shannon. As a young adult, she got back into acting as Christine Ross in the TV series The Unit (2006-2007). Over the next few years, Zosia Mamet had minor roles in the films Sunset Stories (2012), and TV series High School USA! (2013-2015).
Finally, in 2012, Zosia Mam landed the role of Shoshanna Shapiro in the TV series Girls. She portrayed the character for a total of 48 episodes, from 2012 to 2017, and is considered her breakthrough role.
