Alex Trebek’s wife, Jean shares wedding pic, thanks fans for support
Late Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek’s wife Jane has spoken through Instagram to thank fans for their support on Wednesday. The longtime host died following a battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer on Sunday aged 80.
“My family and I sincerely thank you all for your compassionate messages and generosity. Your expressions have truly touched our hearts. Thank you so very, very much,” she continued. “Many Blessings to all, Jean Trebek.” Jean wrote alongside the post from the couple’s wedding day.
The pair married in 1990 and are parents to son Matthew, 30, and daughter Emily, 27. He was previously married to Elaine Callei from 1974 to 1981 and had adopted her daughter, Nicky.
In his new memoir, The Answer Is...Reflections On My Life, the host opened up about his 30-year marriage to Jean and how she's been his rock through his stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis. He also admitted that they had reservations about their 24-year age gap.
"At first it worried me. But then I thought, ‘To hell with it. We’ll make it work.' ” Alex told People in 1990.
Alex Trebek announced he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March 2019, but Jean noticed symptoms beforehand.
