Does Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Kids And His Secret Love Child Joseph Baena Have a Relationship?

The wedding of Katherine Schwarzenegger and Chris Pratt brought millions of congratulations. Among them, one of the messages stood out the most – of Joseph Baena. 

He is the love child of Katherine’s father, Arnold Schwarz­enegger, and then housekeeper Mildred Baena. The secret affair had taken place when he was happily married to wife Maria Shriver. He posted “Congratulations!” on a photo on Katherine’s Instagram.

Joseph Baena, who has much resemblance to his father, was noticeably absent at his half-sister’s wedding in Montecito, California, on June 8, 2019. 

According to a source close to the Schwarzenegger family, Katherine and her sister Christina have no relationship with their half-brother, “have really no relationship with Joseph. I think the sons have more of a relationship with him.”

“Eight years later, everyone is feeling their way out of a nightmare, and they’ve all done a really good job finding their way into a new normal.”

Another source added. “They are trying to navigate a private relationship before it’s a public one.”

The source close to the family added,

“Even if he had been invited, he would say he wouldn’t have wanted to go to the wedding as he would be a distraction. It would have definitely taken away the shine from Katherine’s big day. It would have really been the only story of the day.”

Schwarzenegger has known Joseph as well. An inside source shared,

“He (Joseph) grew up around them. He was a regular at the mansion in Pacific Palisades, where the family lived from 1986 until 2003.”

On national sibling day, Katherine Schwarzenegger took to Instagram to post photos of herself with Christina, Patrick, and Christopher writing “I LOVE THEM SO MUCH #nationalsiblingsday.” She was immediately called out in the comment section.

One wrote, “Your half-brother still is family. He didn’t ask to be brought into the world. Don’t let what ur father did blind ur judgement on having your brother in your life hun. Don’t treat him like he has done something wrong by being born. Hopefully, you see the truth and have him in your life.”

While another commented, “Why should she have a relationship with this kid? Joseph is the product of an affair that Arnold kept hidden for years! This was a deeply damaging and shameful situation that destroyed her family. I can’t say I blame her for not wanting to embrace this living ­reminder of that.”

Arnold Schwarz­enegger had hidden Joseph’s true parentage for 15 years until 2011. The couple has been separated since 2011, after 25 years together, but has not filed for divorce. Maria Shriver is currently single while Arnold Schwarz­enegger is in a relationship with Heather Milligan.

It was also noted that Katherine, Patrick, and Christina do not follow Joseph on the platform while Christopher does not have a public account under his own name.

Relationship with father

Although Baena, who is currently dating model Nicky Dodaj, has no relationship with his step-family, he does have a good relationship with his father. Arnold Schwarz­enegger posted on April 2019 congratulating his love child on college graduation,

“Congratulations Joseph! Four years of hard work studying business at Pepperdine and today is your big day! You have earned all of the celebration and I’m so proud of you. I love you!”
