Brad Pitt breaks silence on finalizing divorce from Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt has finally broken his silence after finalizing his divorce from former spouse Angelina Jolie after eight years.

In an interview with GQ, the Fight Club actor was asked if he felt “relief” after legally settling their split in December 2024.

The Oscar winner replied, “No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”

Brad Pitt’s comment comes six months after they settled their divorce. Mr. & Mrs. Smith star Angelina Jolie filed for the dissolution of their marriage in September 2016.

Jolie’s lawyer James Simon said at the time, “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long, ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

The Salt actress had her legal team file court documents stating that she had waived “any right to receive” spousal support from Pitt.

In 2019, the former partners Pitt, 61, and Jolie, 49, were declared legally single.

Pitt has since moved on with several girlfriends.

He is currently dating Ines de Ramon. The pair appeared as a couple for the first time at the 2024 British Grand Prix.

The exes share six children - Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16. However, since their split, none of their children are on speaking terms with Pitt.

Some of his children have chosen to drop their father’s last name.

In June 2024, a source close to the actor shared that he was “aware and upset” that his biological daughter, Shiloh, had also dropped his last name.

“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter. The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad,” the source said.

The source added, “He still loves all of his kids tremendously. This whole process has been very hard for the whole family.”

Referring to a 2016 incident when the Troy actor allegedly became “verbally abusive and physical with his children” aboard a private jet, Pax wrote in a 2020 Father’s Day post.

“You have no consideration or empathy toward your four youngest children, who tremble in fear when in your presence. You will never understand the damage you have done to my family because you are incapable of doing so,” he wrote.
