Cameron Diaz, Benji Madden secretly welcome baby no. 2
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden are not parents of two!
The couple shared the surprising news that they had welcomed their second child together – a son named Cardinal.
In a joint Instagram statement, they wrote, “We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our Son, Cardinal Madden. He is awesome and We are all so happy he is here!”
They, however, did not share pictures of their newborn, “For the kid's safety and privacy we won’t be posting any pictures- but he’s really cute.”
They went on to express their gratitude and thank supporters, “We are feeling so blessed and grateful. Sending much love from our fam to yours. Best wishes and Good Afternoon!!”
Diaz, 51, and Madden, 45, had not shared they were expecting a child together.
Back in January 2020, they surprised by announcing they had welcomed a baby girl named Raddix – via surrogate.
“We are so happy, blessed, and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family,” they had shared at the time.
Like with their newborn, the pair also decided not to share pictures of their daughter.
The actress and the Good Charlotte rocker had tied the knot in 2015.
In July 2022, a source close to the couple told US Weekly, “Cameron and Benji have discussed having another child and have even been looking into surrogate options for a while now. Benji always wanted a big family, and Cameron didn’t need to be persuaded after the arrival of their daughter.”
Although they have always preferred to keep their relationship private, Diaz did share an experience as a mother.
She told her pal Katherine Power on Instagram Live, “After we do bath time with our baby and we put her to sleep, Benji puts her to bed, he’s so good. He’s such an amazing father. I’m so lucky he’s my baby’s father…. He puts her down and I go into the kitchen and I pour myself a nice glass of red wine. I start my cooking, I put on my show, whatever it is.”
Speaking of how she navigates motherhood, she explained, “They’re not actively trying to be bad. My job is to just help her find the words to her emotions, her experience, what she’s going through, and be able to help her identify that and then move through it.”
