Cher temporarily denied conservatorship of son Elijah

Cher’s appeal for conservatorship of her son Elijah Blue Allman has been temporarily denied.

Daily Mail reported that Los Angeles Superior Court judge Jessica Uzcategui rejected the 77-year-old’s conservatorship petition on Friday.

The request was denied because her attorneys gave Allman “at best less than 24 hours notice” of the court action. They also reportedly refused to share confidential information with him about the case.

The Judge has set a hearing for January 29, 2024, and ordered Cher’s lawyers to share all confidential information about Allman, 47, with his legal team one week ahead.

The Grammy Award-winning singer had claimed that her son had gone missing. However, the musician showed up to Friday’s brief hearing alongside his wife Marieangela King.

King and Allman have recently reconciled, having dismissed divorce filing. They had married in 2013.

Allman wore a light blue dress shirt with dark gray slacks, a navy puffer jacket, a brown belt, and black sneakers.

King, 36, paired a cream-colored pantsuit with black lace gloves and bright red lipstick as she stood close to her husband.

In December 2023, Cher filed for a conservatorship over her Allman’s estate. The court documents had also claimed that she has not been able to discuss the conservatorship because of his “current mental and physical health issues” which leaves him unable to “form or express a preference.”

Cher also expressed her concern that the 47-year-old cannot manage his finances and “any funds distributed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself, and putting Elijah’s life at risk.”

Cher, also noted that Allman makes $120,000 a year and “is entitled to regular distributions from a trust established by his father for his benefit.” However, he has an estimated $0 value in personal property.

Earlier this week Elijah had argued against his mother’s conservatorship filing. He said that “a conservatorship of the estate is not necessary at this time, no reason exists for the appointment of a conservator, the proposed conservator is not entitled to priority, and the proposed conservator is unfit to serve.”

He further claimed, “I recently passed a drug test and am willing to submit to future drug tests. I am clean and sober from illicit substances for over 90 days now and am fully capable of and committed to managing the money I receive quarterly from the trust left by my late father.”

He added, “I believe that my wife would have priority to be appointed conservator, if necessary, but I do not need that, either.”

Elijah also revealed that although he believes his mom is “looking out for [his] best interests,” he does “not need her unsolicited help or support at this time.”
