Former child actor Drake Bell shared that he learned about his divorce, filed by his wife Janet Von Schmeling, along with the rest of the world.

The 36-year-old actor revealed that he learned about the legal filing by his estranged wife after news broke on Thursday.

He took to Twitter on Friday to write to his 4.3 million followers, “I found out my wife filed for divorce from TMZ.”

Along with the statement, he also took the chance to promote his new song Going Away. Bell wrote on Twitter ”check out my new song” and a YouTube link to the new single.

Back in January 2023, it was reported that he and Von Schmeling had separated. His estranged wife, who is also an actress, moved from Los Angeles to Florida with their toddler.

The couple’s separation came amid paparazzi pictures of the Drake and Josh star inhaling balloons with his toddler in the back seat of his car was published.

Although the couple remained out of the spotlight for a few months, Bell made it to headlines after he was reported missing and “endangered” on April 13. Officials had reported he was last seen in Florida – a day after taking his son to Sea World.

Drake Bell was found safe just hours later.

He soon took to Twitter to write, “You leave your phone in the car and don’t answer for the night and this?”

However, a 911 call included a police officer claiming that Bell had threatened suicide in texts to family members before going missing.

Bell and Von Schmeling secretly married in 2018. They welcomed their son three years later, which they had announced.

Von Schmeling has cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their divorce.
