‘General Hospital' actress Jacklyn Zeman dead at 70

General Hospital star Jacklyn Zeman passed away on May 10, 2023. She was 70.
Executive Producer Frank Valentini released a statement via Twitter as he honored her life.
“On behalf of our @GeneralHospital family, I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved @JackieZeman. Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work,” he wrote.
He continued, “Jackie will be greatly missed, but her positive spirit will always live on with our cast and crew. We send our heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones, friends, and family, especially her daughters Cassidy and Lacey.”
The late star’s family told ABC News that she had passed away after a short battle with cancer.
The late actress played several minor roles before landing a regular role in the ABC soap opera One Life to Live. She starred in the series as Lana McClain until 1977.
Among all her work, Zeman was best known for portraying nurse Bobbie Spencer on the hit soap opera General Hospital. From 1977 to 2023, she appeared in more than 800 episodes. This breakthrough role also earned her an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Daytime Emmy nomination.
ABC’s general hospital also took to Twitter to release a statement.
“Jacklyn Zeman has been a beloved member of the ‘General Hospital’ and ABC family since she originated the iconic role of Bobbie Spencer over 45 years ago. She leaves behind a lasting legacy for her Emmy-nominated portrayal of the bad girl turned heroine and will always be remembered for her kind heart and radiant spirit.,” the official Twitter page of General Hospital wrote.
Fellow General Hospital cast members also paid their tributes to Zeman on social media.
Actress Kathleen Gati, who stars as Dr. Liesl Obrecht wrote, “I am heartbroken to hear this news. One of the kindest people I have ever met. My deepest condolences to her family, friends, and fans.”
Parry Shen, who portrays Brad Cooper on the soap opera said, “I loved hearing her stories about the show in the 70s & 80s. Always so kind & down to earth. You will be so missed, Jackie. Condolences to her daughters, family & legions of fans who have loved Bobbie Spencer for decades.”
Jacklyn Zeman is survived by her daughters Cassidy Zee Gorden and Lacey Rose Gorden – whom she shared with her third husband Glenn Gorden.
