Gypsy Rose Blanchard files restraining order against husband Ryan Anderson amid divorce
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has filed a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband Ryan Anderson just after three months together.
According to People, the documents were filed by Blanchard’s attorneys in the 17th Judicial District Court in the Parish of Lafourche, Los Angeles.
Blanchard and Anderson tied the knot in July 2022 while she was serving eight years in prison for the murder of her mother Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard in 2015.
The ex-convict, then 24, convinced her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to stab Dee Dee to death. She planned to escape her mom, who had lied and tricked her as well as her doctors, into believing she had different illnesses.
Before her death, Dee Dee had been making Gypsy Rose Blanchard pass herself off as younger by changing her birthdate to 1995, pretending to be disabled and chronically ill since she was an infant. This subjected her to multiple unnecessary surgeries, and medication and controlled her through physical and psychological abuse.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard was sentenced to 10 years in prison of which she served 8. She was granted parole in September 2023 while her ex-boyfriend Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison.
After being released in December 2023, the pair showed off their relationship on social media. However, just three months later, she revealed on social media that they had separated.
“People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately, my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents’ home down the bayou,” she wrote on Facebook.
The 32-year-old added that she was listening to her heart and needed space and time to find herself.
The convict-turned-author did not explain the reasons for her ongoing divorce but hinted that the end of her marriage is addressed in an upcoming Lifetime show featuring her life after prison release.
“We were filming a lot, so stay tuned for that,” Blanchard said on Instagram.
While responding to negative feedback on social media, she even gloated about Anderson’s physical prowess, claiming his “D is fire.”
“Ryan, don’t listen to the haters. I love you, and you love me. We do not owe anyone anything. Our family is who matters. … I love you… besides. they [are] jealous because you are rocking my world every night…yeah I said it, the D is fire,” she said at the time.
Despite the couple seeming inseparable, Blanchard’s close friend Nadiya Vizier claimed that her friend was worried Anderson would strike her.
“Gypsy said that she was afraid he was going to hit her. He didn’t — but that happened in the past with her mother. So, her first instinct was to tighten up and be prepared,” Vizier alleged.
Following the public split, Ryan Anderson thanked his supporters on social media and promised to reveal “see what really happened” between them.
Earlier this month, Blanchard was pictured with ex-fiancé Ken Urker as they spent time together in South Louisiana and got matching tattoos. They were engaged for a year in 2018.
