HGTV’s Ty Pennington engaged to girlfriend Kellee Merrell

Ty Pennington, the host of HGTV’s Ty Breaker is now engaged to his girlfriend Kellee Merrell after his marriage proposal was accepted by her.

Pennington, 56, broke the good news on Instagram, “It’s the ‘yes’ for me…,” alongside the picture of the teardrop-shaped engagement ring placed on his now fiance Merrell, 33.

Pennington’s rep told People that he had proposed to the Canadian social media manager on the dock of his Palm Coast home- over some morning coffee.

The pair had first met in 2010 when Pennington was in Toronto filming a TV show. Though they did not immediately start dating, they stayed connected through mutual friends for years. After reconnecting in early 2020, they quarantined together.

“I have admired Kellee from afar for years. She’s a beautiful person inside and out. Luckily our paths finally crossed at the right time. It’s one of those things where you just feel happy being around a person. I never thought I would get married, but she changed that. Glad I waited for the one.” Pennington told People.

The couple recently bought a home in Savannah, Georgia, and is in the middle of renovating their dream home.
