Jeezy files for primary custody of daughter Monaco amid Jeannie Mai divorce

Last Modified: 4th Apr

Jeezy is seeking primary custody of his two-year-old daughter Monaco as his divorce from Jeannie Mai continues.

The rapper filed the documents in a Fulton County court on Wednesday to vacate the current agreement between the parents regarding their child’s custody as well as parenting time.

Jeezy, born Jay Wayne Jenkins, claimed that he and his former spouse agreed on a custody arrangement for their daughter back in February but now wants his daughter to live with him full-time. He reasoned it was due to Mai’s hectic schedule.

In the files, the 46-year-old alleged that he agreed to move into the basement of their shared home but the 45-year-old talk show host has moved out of their home along with their daughter.

He further claims that the toddler is being taken care of by Mai’s brother and mom and How Do I Look? star’s schedule isn’t good for their daughter.

Jeezy also claims that Mai refused to honor their custody agreement and failed to give him parenting time for the last two months.

The father also claimed that he believes Monaco would have more stability in her life under his primary care.

This filing comes four months after Jeezy claimed that “lack of consistency, continuity, and stability inherently associated with such a haphazard and fluid parenting time schedule” has become “stressful” for his daughter.

However, he has denied all the allegations saying she wanted to “foster an open, supportive, and safe environment for both parents to actively participate” in Monaco’s life. She also added that her ex has to make sure all of his firearms are properly stored.

The December 2023 documents stated, “It is essential to clarify that Ms. Jenkins’ insistence on reasonable safety measures being put in place, such as safely securing and locking away all firearms that have been unsecure in the past, as well as having familiarity and properly trained caregivers is absolutely not gatekeeping, but rather a responsible effort to prioritize their daughter’s wellbeing. These requests are grounded in Ms. Jenkins’ genuine concern for the parties’ daughter’s safety and security, especially when under the care of others and traveling across the country, and are reasonable protective measures, not an attempt to restrict Mr. Jenkins’ access to their daughter.”
