Julie Andrews out on shopping trip – looks radiant at 88
Julie Andrews was seen on her first public outing as she stepped out to shop in the Hamptons. She had not been spotted in public for the last seven months.
The 88-year-old got into a gold SUV while her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton followed close behind to support her and the actress walked gracefully with the help of a cane.
The Princess Diaries star aced in elegance as she wore a white blazer with floral detailing, black trousers, blue sneakers, and a cream blouse. She completed her look with a gold ring and navy blue centered gold stud earrings.
Andrews has been living in Long Island, New York since she turned 66.
She seemed to be in good spirits as she smiled for the cameras before she went on her way.
The Sound of Music star’s last public appearance was in March 2023 – as she walked the red carpet while attending Carol Burnett’s 90th birthday special. She was also spotted in Long Island in September 2023 with the help of her cane.
Despite old age and lack of public appearances, she has yet to retire from Hollywood.
Her recent work was as the voice of Lady Whistledown in the TV series Bridgerton since 2020.
Just last month she revealed that the film Princess Diaries 3 has been shelved for now. Andrews played the role of Queen Clarisse Renaldi in the first two films – which were released in 2001 and 2004.
In a December 2023 interview, she recalled working with her Mary Poppins co-star Dick Van Dyke – who had just celebrated his 98th birthday.
“I’d never made a movie before, and I’d given birth to my lovely daughter Emma nearly six weeks earlier, and I quickly realized that I had better pull my socks up and get in shape,” she said.
“I found it pretty daunting, I can tell you. Dick could not have been kinder, more genuinely sweet and helpful. I like to think that we did bond instantly. How lucky I was to have him by my side for my first venture in Hollywood,” Andrews praised her fellow actor.
