Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter Ella Emhoff signed with IMG Models
Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter and daughter of Doug Emhoff- Ella Emhoff, 21 has signed with IMG Models, joining the ranks of Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Ashley Graham, and recently Amanda Gorman who recited a poem at the 2021 inauguration.
The president of IMG Models, one of the world’s most prestigious modeling agencies, Ivan Bart told the New York Times, “It’s not really about shape, size, or gender anymore. Ella communicates this moment in time. There’s a cheekiness and a joy she exudes.”
He added that when he saw Emhoff wearing the now-viral Miu Miu coat at the swearing-in of her stepmother and President Biden, he thought “Wow, she’s communicating fashion.”
Ella Emhoff is a senior at Parsons School of Design in New York where she is studying fine arts with a focus on textiles and has been working as a model “on and off” for the past few years. She had previously signed with a smaller agency.
“I was pretty surprised when everything with IMG was happening because when I was younger, I never saw that as being part of my timeline,” she said. “As someone who, like a lot of young girls out there, had self-confidence issues, it is intimidating and scary to go into this world that is hyper-focused on you and the body.”
Bart had first become aware of Emhoff’s fashion sense at a fund-raiser for Ms. Harris during the presidential primaries in the summer of 2020.
