Lisa Marie Presley’s ex Michael Lockwood awarded custody of their twins following her death

Lisa Marie Presley’s ex-husband Michael Lockwood has been appointed as the legal guardian of their 14-year-old twin daughters Finley Aaron Love Lockwood and Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood. However, there have been insider concerns that this is the last thing the late singer wanted.

Following the death of King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley’s only daughter in January 2023, the 61-year-old musician filed a petition to be his daughters’ legal guardian, back in March.

Lockwood’s lawyer Scott Rahn said during the court hearing, “Lockwood has a good, collegial, familial relationship with all of the parties involved. He is not only legally bound but also morally bound to protect [the twins’] interests.”

However, it was also reported that Lockwood was not invited to Lisa Marie’s funeral who passed away from sudden cardiac arrest at the age of 54. The source also added that t Lisa Marie’s mother, Priscilla Presley got him into the private funeral held at Graceland in Memphis.

Although Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Lockwood divorced in 2016 after 10 years of marriage, they spent years fighting over finances and custody battles up until her death. Lockwood was left near penniless after his bid to overturn a postnup was denied.

In March 2023, Lisa Marie Presley’s attorney Gary Fishbein told Judge Joseph Lipner the case should be dismissed since his client is “sadly no longer with us.”

In addition to the custody over the twins, the guitarist can also represent the girls in an ongoing probate case over their mother’s multi-million dollar trust.

The late singer’s mother Priscilla is currently challenging the 2016 amendment which put Lisa Marie’s child Riley Keough, 33, in charge of the Elvis Presley estate.

Priscilla has since argued that the amendment should be voided because of several factors including that her late daughter had not her of the changes as required by the terms of the trust.

A source, who was friends with Lisa Marie Presley for more than 12 years, said, “Lisa would be pissed! She would be so upset that Priscilla is doing this. Riley is an amazing trustee … and Lisa’s youngest daughters are in the best of hands with her.”

“Riley never wanted a war,” another source close to the family shared.

Despite multiple sources claiming the family feud, Priscilla Presley has tried to discourage similar notes which were “not true.”
