‘The Challenge’ star Ashley Cain ‘shattered’ following infant daughter’s death

Last Modified: 9th Sep

MTV’s The Challenge star Ashley Cain wrote a heartfelt message to his late daughter, Azaylia Diamond Cain, following the revelation that the 8-month-old infant had lost her battle with a rare and aggressive form of leukemia on 24th April.

Alongside a picture of him holding his daughter, he wrote on Instagram, “Rest In Paradise Princess. I will always hold you in my heart until I can hold you again in heaven. #AzayliaDiamondCain”

In his next post, just hours later, he poured his heart out, “My heart is shattered. You gave my life purpose, my face a smile, filled my heart with love and my soul with pride. I can’t put into words my sadness and pain, there aren’t words to describe it. I love you with every ounce of my body and I miss you so much already.”

The 30-year-old continued how the birth of his daughter changed him, “You made me a better man. You made me the person I’ve always wanted to be. You’ve taught me more in your 8 months than I’ve learned my whole life. I don’t know why you’ve been taken away from me and my heart aches in your absence.”

With his partner Safiyya Vorajee, he had raised more than £1.5m earlier this year to fund specialist treatment in Singapore. But Cain had told his Instagram followers last month that Azaylia had become too ill for the treatment. Earlier this month the baby was given “just days to live” but continued to fight for weeks, even garnering the attention of celebs like Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson.

He also promised Azaylia that her name will live on.

“I will carry your name across every ocean, along every road, to the top of every mountain and across the whole globe. Your name will live, your legacy will be remembered and I will seek peace in living as your vessel to continue inspiring, giving strength, spreading joy, and saving lives in your name, with your spirit, as your father until we meet again.”

The former British footballer continued with his message, “I am blessed, I am honored and I am privileged to be your father. I would go through all of the pain again and again. Because what you gave me in those 8 months will live with me for eternity.”

Azaylia had been diagnosed with cancer in October 2020 at just three months old. Cain and Vorajee had always been open with the diagnosis and treatment of their daughter in the past months.
