Adler’s debut role was in the short films Curt's Brain and The Deported Trailer: The Spoof Trailer of the Departed, which were both released in 2006. This was followed by minor appearances in the TV series What About Brian (2006), Ghost Whisperer (2006), Viva Laughlin (2007), etc.
Finally, in 2009, he was cast as Dave Karofsky in the musical comedy-drama Glee. He portrayed the character until 2015, for a total of 29 episodes.
