Alexa PenaVega is a professional actress, singer, and American national. She is well known for starring in Spy Kids, Repo! The Genetic Opera, Ruby & the Rockits.

Alexa PenaVega’s birth took place on August 27, 1988, in Miami, Florida, USA. She was born Alexa Ellesse Vega to her mother Gina Rue, a former American model, and her father Baruch Vega, a Colombian fashion photographer. 

She is not the only child of her parents and has six siblings – sisters Krizia Vega (born 1990), Makenzie Vega (born 1994), paternal half-sister Margaux Vega (born 1981), maternal half-sister Greylin James (born 2000), maternal half-brother Jet James (born 2005), and maternal half-brother Cruz Hudson Rue (born 2009).

Growing up Alexa PenaVega was home-schooled.

Her ethnicity is Colombian, English, and French.

Alexa PenaVega – Boyfriend, Husband, Children, Divorce

Alexa PenaVega married her longtime boyfriend Sean Covel, a film producer on October 10, 2010, in a wedding ceremony in Lead, South Dakota. Her Spy Kids director Robert Rodriguez had walked her down the aisle. However, in less than two years, she announced in July 2012 via Twitter that they had divorced, which was finalized in December of the same year.

PenaVega went on to date actor, and singer Carlos Pena Jr. and got engaged to him in August 2013. The couple married on January 4, 2014, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, both taking PenaVega as their married name.

With her husband, she has welcomed three children- sons Ocean King PenaVega (born December 7, 2016) and Kingston James PenaVega (born June 30, 2019), and daughter Rio Rey PenaVega (born in May 2021).

There are no rumors of divorce surrounding the pair.

Early Days

PenaVega was only 12 years old when she was cast as young Jo Harding in the 1996 disaster film Twister. This was followed by guest appearances on ER, Follow the Stars Home, Ghost Whisperer, and The Bernie Mac Show.

Finally, in 2001, she was cast in Spy Kids as Carmen Cortez, which was a huge success. She reprised her role in the sequels Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams (2002), Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003), and as grown Carmen Cortez in 2011’s Spy Kids: All the Time in the World.

Series

Since her rise to fame, Alexa PenaVega has had appearances in over 3 dozen series. Some include Ruby & the Rockits (2009), Unsupervised (2009), The Tomorrow People (2014), Nashville (2014-2015), The Loud House (2017-present), and The Casagrandes (2019-present). 

Films

PenaVega has also worked as an actress in Lifetime movies Odd Girl Out (2005), and The Pregnancy Project (2012). Since 2014 Alexa PenaVega has been actively working with the Hallmark channel movies. She has starred in Hallmark movies The Hunters (2014), Enchanted Christmas (2017), and Picture Perfect Mysteries: Newlywed and Dead (2019), among others.
