Early Days

While Lenz was on a trip to Los Angeles, she landed her first commercial, which was for dolls. She went on to land appearances in commercials for Eggo Waffles, Dr. Pepper, etc., and eventually got into acting. While still a high school student she was cast in Stephen King's 1996 horror film Thinner as Linda Halleck.

After numerous commercials, pilots, and films, Bethany Joy Lenz landed the role of the teenage clone of Reva Shayne on Guiding Light and was later recast as Michelle Bauer Santos. This is believed to be her breakthrough role.

Since then Lenz has starred in films Mary and Rhoda (2000), Bring It On Again (2004), Extortion (2017), and in TV series One Tree Hill (2003-2012) as Haley James Scott, Dexter (2013), American Gothic (2016), Grey's Anatomy (2018), Pearson (2019), among others.

The Hallmark films in which she has portrayed characters include Snowed-Inn Christmas (2017), Poinsettias for Christmas (2018), Bottled with Love (2019), A Valentine's Match (2020), and Just My Type (2020.
