Chris Stapleton was born on April 15, 1978, in Lexington, Kentucky, United States. His full name/birth name is Christopher Alvin Stapleton. His father Herbert Joseph Stapleton Jr. worked as a coal miner while his mother Carol J. Stapleton worked in a local health department. He has two siblings- an older brother Herbert Joseph III and a younger sister Melanie Brooke.

Stapleton grew up in Staffordsville, Kentucky, and attended Johnson Central High School for education. He enrolled at Vanderbilt University to study engineering but dropped out only after a year.

On April 15, 2018, at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards, it was announced that the Stapleton family has welcomed two twin boys, Macon Stapleton, and Samuel Stapleton. Band and Music
Chris Stapleton moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2001. At the beginning of his musical career, he began to work as a songwriter with Sea Gayle Music. Finally, in 2007, Stapleton became the frontman of the bluegrass band The Steeldrivers. With their two sons, they are not number 2 on the bluegrass charts. Soon, Stapleton left the band in 2010.
He went on to create a band named The Jompson Brothers. The original band members were Greg McKee, J.T. Cure, and Bard McNamee. Their first album named The Jompson Brothers was released in November 2010 followed by tours. Chris Stapleton left the band in 2013 to pursue a solo career.

Solo artist
The same year, he signed into Mercury Nashville and released his first single as a solo artist, What Are You Listening To?, in October 2013. But the single failed and hence he did not release the album. So, Stapleton went back to songwriting.
He wrote songs for films such as Valentine's Day, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, and Hell or High Water. But he did sing at various concerts and award events alongside Lady Antebellum.
Only on May 5, 2015, Chris Stapleton released his first solo album, Traveller, co-produced with Dave Cobb. The album was a success receiving several awards. After collaborating with artists including Andrew Combs, Kacey Musgraves, and Eric Church, he released his second studio album From A Room: Volume 1 on May 5, 2017.
The album was branded gold and named a best-selling country album of the year and included the song broken halos.
His third album From A Room: Volume 2 was released on December 1, 2017, and reached number two on the Billboard 200 charts. Although he did not release a studio album in 2018, he did write and collaborated with artists such as Justin Timberlake.
Moreover, Chris Stapleton made guest appearances on Saturday Night Live (SNL) on January 16, 2016, and January 27, 2018. In his first visit, hosted by Adam Driver, he sang songs Parachute and Nobody to Blame. While on the second appearance, Stapleton performed along with Sturgill Simpson.
