Who is Marwan Kenzari?

Marwan Kenzari is an actor by profession and Dutch, Tunisian by nationality. He is famous for his roles in films The Angel, The Mummy, and Aladdin and in the Dutch TV series Wolf.

Marwan Kenzari’s birth took place on 16 January 1983 in The Hague, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands. He was born to a Tunisian family, his father worked as a construction worker and his mother was a housewife.

Kenzari is multilingual and speaks Arabic, Dutch, French, and English. Other details of his personal life such as his parents, siblings, childhood, and family are still under wraps.

He was educated at the Theatre Academy Maastricht, from which he also graduated. His ethnicity is Tunisian and Dutch.

Although Kenzari has been in the spotlight for a few years now, facts about his girlfriend or relationship are not known. He was not been spotted with anyone or is rumored to be dating.

In 2022, it was made clear that he is dating model and artist Nora Ponse. They seem to have been together since 2019. He and his girlfriend welcomed their first child- daughter Karel Kareem Kenzari on August 11, 2022. Marwan Kenzari is yet to marry Ponse and take her as his wife. Also, as to public knowledge, he has never been divorced.

Although we consider him to be a single man, he might be secretly married with a wife and children or a divorced man.

Life before fame

Kenzari started acting as a teenager when his then-girlfriend signed them up to audition for a musical, which was the Dutch version of Chicago. After graduation from the prestigious Theatre Academy Maastricht, he worked with the Amsterdam Theatre Group. 

In 2008, he started his career in his home country. His beginning roles were in the series Flikken Maastricht (2008-2010), Maite was hier (2009), and in the films Katia's Sister (2008), among others.

Roles, Appearances

Other film credits are in Loft (2010) Rabat (2011), Wolf (2013), and Accused (2014). Seeking international fame and more work, Marwan Kenzari began appearing in Hollywood films in 2016. His first roles in English movies were in Ben-Hur (2016) and The Promise (2016).

His recent portrayal of characters are in The Mummy (2017),  Murder on the Orient Express (2017), What Happened to Monday (2017), The Angel (2018), in Aladdin (2019) as Jafar, among others. Moreover, Marwan Kenzari has appeared in the Dutch TV series Van God Los (2012), Penoza (2012-2013), and in the film Instinct (2018).

On the set of Aladdin, Kenzari has starred alongside Billy Magnussen, Mena Massoud, Nasim Pedrad, Numan Acar, and Naomi Scott.
