Who is David Dastmalchian?
David Dastmalchian is an actor by profession and an American by nationality. He is well known for starring in the plays The Glass Menagerie and Buried Child, in the films Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Batman: The Dark Knight, and TV series The Flash, MacGyver.

David Dastmalchian’s birth took place on July 21, 1975, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He is not the only child of his parents and his siblings, among whom his older sister is Holly Dowling. His mother, Priscilla Dastmalchian (née Doran), passed away in July 2020, while his father Hossein Dastmalchian died in 2021.

David Dastmalchian was educated at Shawnee Mission South High School. Following graduation, he went on to study at the Theatre School at DePaul University. He had aspired to play college football but changed the course of his career after landing a scholarship in Theatre school.

Early Days
Before starting out as an actor, Dastmalchian suffered from heroin addiction for five years before finally getting clean. His screenplay Animals is based on his life experience.
Following graduation from college, he worked in theatres, acting in numerous plays. And in 2008, he landed his debut TV role as Thomas Schiff in the film Batman: The Dark Knight, followed by minor roles in the films Sushi Girl (2012), Saving Lincoln (2013), and The Employer (2013).
Finally, in 2013, he was cast as Bob Taylor in the thriller Prisoners, which gained him wide recognition. Also, his work, both as a writer and actor, in the 2014 film Animals, received rave reviews.
