Early Days

Growing up in Omaha, Dober began training in Thai boxing aka Muay Thai at the age of 14. He was a two-time Amateur National Champion and his amateur record of 9-0 helped him when he turned professional in 2009. 

He won the fight against Nick Nolte at Bellator 16 on April 29, 2010, and had a 12–2 record in the next few years from various promotions such as Titan Fighting Championship, and Victory Fighting Championship. Drew Dober also appeared on The Ultimate Fighter in February 2012. However, he lost to Daron Cruickshank via unanimous decision in the entry round.

UFC

Drew Dober’s debut Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) match was against Sean Spencer on November 30, 2013, after stepping in for Sérgio Moraes, who was injured. He lost the fight by unanimous decision.

Over the years, in UFC, Dober has won against Jamie Varner, Scott Holtzman (January 2, 2016), Josh Burkman (July 29, 2017), Frank Camacho (January 27, 2018), Jon Tuck (August 25, 2018), Marco Polo Reyes (June 29, 2019), Nasrat Haqparast (January 18, 2020), Alexander Hernandez (May 13, 2020).

He has lost in matches against Nick Hein (May 31, 2014), Leandro Silva (March 21, 2015; later declared no contest after referee Eduardo Herdy mistakenly took Drew Dober had submitted), Efrain Escudero (June 13, 2015), Olivier Aubin-Mercier (December 10, 2016), Beneil Dariush (March 9, 2019).

His match with Islam Makhachev has been rescheduled for March 6th, 2021 at UFC 259.
