Who is VanossGaming?

VanossGaming, real name Evan Fong, is a YouTuber, music producer, video gamer by profession, and Canadian by nationality. He produces music under the name Rynx and worked as a creative director for the video game Dead Realm, and as a voice actor for Paranormal Action Squad,  the YouTube Premium series.

VanossGaming’s birth took place on 31 May 1992 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He was born Evan Fong to a Korean mother and a Chinese father. The details of his siblings, if he has any, are not known.

Education, Ethnicity

For education, Evan Fong attended Richmond Hill High School. After graduation, he went on to study economics in college. However, he dropped out of college in his second year to focus on his YouTube career which was starting to build a fanbase.

His ethnicity includes Korean and Chinese.

Early Days

Fong started his YouTube career with his YouTube channel VanossGaming in September 2011. Despite the fact that he did not play many video games in his childhood and was rather interested in ice hockey and was even pursuing an athletic scholarship is quite shocking. His YouTube channel gained only mediocre success in its first one and a half years. 

However, after Evan Fong started uploading a series of Call of Duty: Black Ops II 'funny moments' videos, his channel started to gain subscribers rapidly. Evan Fong’s subscriber count passed 10 million in 2015 and in April 2015 signed with the multi-channel network Jetpak. At one point, he was gaining more views than a fellow gamer and YouTuber Pewdiepie.

Name, Logo, YouTube

The name of his channel VanossGaming is derived from VANOS, a variable valve timing system made by BMW. Fong’s father used the alias "vanoss62" on PlayStation 3 and was later adopted by Evan Fong. 

In November 2015 the logo for his channel - ‘VG' was changed to reflect the Bat Owl model with a prominent 'V' in it. The ‘V’ is modeled after his character in Grand Theft Auto Auto Online.

As of June 2020, Evan Fong has gained over 25.1M subscribers and 12.3 billion views. He is also a musician and plays guitar.

Over the years Fong has collaborated with YouTubers Wildcat, Delirious, Terroriser, and Lui Calibre.

Under the name Rynx, he released his debut studio album In Pieces on October 25, 2019, and has released over six singles including  Want You (2017), Read My Mind (2019), All For You (2019), etc.
