Who is Lele Pons?

Lele Pons found fame at such a young age. Initially, a Viner, the social media star, singer, actress, host, a dancer has branched out to Instagram and YouTuber. Her comical sense and videos make her one of the most viewed social media influencers.

Lele Pons – Age, Parents, Siblings

Lele Pons was born on June 25, 1996, in Caracas, Venezuela. Her real name/ birth name is Eleonora Pons Maronese. Her mother’s name is Anna Maronese and her father’s name is Luis Pons. Her mother was a graduate of a medical school. She has no siblings and is the only child of her parents.

At the age of 5, Pons migrated with her family to the United States and was raised in Miami, Florida. 

Education, Ethnicity

For education, Lele Pons attended Miami Country Day School and graduated from the same in 2015. Pons has revealed that she was not a famous girl in school and even had a hard time making friends. After her graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, California. But she initially wanted to become a singer.

Her ethnicity is Hispanic.

Lele Pons – Boyfriend, Husband, Divorce, Children

Although social media is a major part of her life, Lele Pons is a secretive person and does not “overly” let out her personal details. 

In January 2015, Pons dated Twan Kuyper. But the couple broke up in April 2015. In 2016 she was rumored to be in a relationship with former Viner King Bach. But there was no confirmation from either side.

In 2016, Pons also dated Mexican YouTuber, Juanpa Zurita but soon split. She was seen kissing Zurita during MTV MIAW Awards in June 2017 speculating rumors that they might be having an affair again.

There have been rumors that she is currently dating fellow social media influencer, Twan Kuyper. However, Kuyper calls Pons his "best friend", not his girlfriend and fans are hoping that this will change soon.

She got engaged to Puerto Rican rapper Guaynaa after he proposed to her in July 2022 on the stage at the EDM festival. They married on March 4, 2023. Pons and her husband do not have any children together.

Vine pioneer

Lele Pons' career as a social media star/ influencer began with Vine, a platform that provided users to post their six-second videos. 

As she went on posting, her followers began to grow. Soon she realized that her followers were depending on her to make videos so they could get a laugh. Over time she became the first "Viner" to reach one billion loops. Her fame brought change to her social life as well.

Pons had become the most-looped and most-followed Viner of all time before Vine closed down in 2016. She even was invited to the White House in 2015 to meet former first lady Michelle Obama.

After Vine was shut down, she branched out to Instagram and YouTube to showcase her funny videos. Her videos are relevant to teenagers. So, most of her followers are between the age of 9-17. In recent interviews, she has shared that she wants to branch out into TV and acting.

Acting

Her dream to branch out into acting seems to be on the way. In 2016, she was signed with the entertainment company Shots Studios, founded by John Shahidi. In the year 2015, Lele Pons launched a jewelry collection called UNO Magnetic, published a co-authored with  Melissa de la Cruz, a novel titled Surviving High School (2016), Surviving High School. 

Lele Pons has also appeared in more than a dozen movies and series. She was featured in We Love You (2016), Scream, Escape the Night (2016), La Voz México (2018), My Big Fat Hispanic Family (2016), Insane Kids (2016), The Walking Dead: No Man's Land (2017), The Space Between Us (2017), Caught the Series (2017), Scooby Doo Is Back (2017), Latino Hunger Games (2017), Airplane Mode (2018).

She has also starred in several music videos such as Havana by Camila Cabello, Downtown by Anitta and J Balvin, She's Out of Her Mind by Blink-182, Summer by Marshmello, The Middle by Zedd, Maren Morris, and Grey.

Her single Dicen was released in May 2018, Celoso was released in August 2018 and Teléfono (Remix) was released in 2018. In addition to her branching career, Pons has also modeled for CoverGirl, and Dolce & Gabbana. Pons is the host of La Voz... México as well.

She has received several nominations, among which she has won the Teen Choice Awards (2016) for Choice Viner, Streamy Awards (2016) for Best Ensemble Cast for Escape the Night, and MTV Millennial Awards (2018) for Worldwide Instagrammer of the Year.

Lele Pons – Controversy, Criticism

Lele Pons was criticized in 2018 at the expense of her sense of humor. Former Viner Cody Ko criticized one of her videos saying "This was written by a four-year-old." Also in December 2017, Tom Harlock criticized Pons for lying to her friends, "manipulating" her young audience, and not writing her own book.

In September 2016, Pons had a feud with her former "best friend" Amanda Cerny, also a social media star like Pons. Cerny had accused Pons of logging into her YouTube and Instagram accounts and deleting the most popular posts. 

However, Pons did not address her accusations. Rather she told her fan base Cerny was the one that deleted her popular posts. When Cerny attempted to clarify the feud on Instagram, Cerny said Pons had called police on her to take down the post. 

Lele Pons has also admitted to having plastic surgery on her nose.
