Granger Smith married his longtime girlfriend Amber Bartlett on February 11, 2010. They had first met in 2009 after Bartlett responded to his Craigslist post. He was searching for a leading lady for his Don’t Listen to the Radio music video.

He and his wife have three children together- two sons and a daughter. Their daughter London Smith was born on 3 October 2011 followed by sons Lincoln Monarch Smith on 7 January 2014 and River Kelly Smith on 16 May 2016. River Kelly Smith passed away on June 6, 2019, after drowning in a pool. 

Bartlett gave birth to their fourth child, son Maverick Beckham Smith on August 21, 2021. The couple is living happily without rumors of extra-marital affairs or divorce.

Son’s death

On June 6, 2019, Granger Smith and his wife shared the tragic news on social media. Their three-year-old son River Kelly Smith had drowned in their home. After the doctors could not revive him they donated River Kelly’s organs so other children can have a second chance at life.

Early Career

Granger Smith’s interest in music began at the age of 14. First starting as a hobby, he taught himself to play guitar. By the age of 15, he was already performing weekends on small-town stages in North Texas and a member of the George Strait fan club.

At the age of 19, he signed a contract with EMI Music Publishing and moved to Nashville. He was a freshman at Texas A&M and had pre-sold his album to scrape together some studio money.

Over the course of his career, he has released 9 studio albums, 1 live album, 16 music videos, 2 EPs, and 17 singles.

His first studio album Waiting on Forever was released in 1999 through his own label Granger Smith. This was followed by the release of studio albums Memory Rd. (2004), Pockets of Pesos (2005), Livin' Like a Lonestar (2006), Don't Listen to the Radio (2009), Poets & Prisoners (2011), Dirt Road Driveway (2013), Remington (2016), and When the Good Guys Win (2017).

His 2013 album Dirt Road Driveway peaked at number 15 on the US Country charts and number 11 on the US Indie charts.

Granger Smith’s live album Live at the Chicken was released in 2012 while EPs We Bleed Maroon and 4x4 were released in 2006 and 2015.

He has also performed at the White House three times and in 2008 traveled to Iraq and Kuwait to perform for soldiers. Moreover, Granger Smith has toured endlessly.
