His mother is Lady Margot Lavinia (née Cholmondeley) and his father is Tony Huston, an actor, writer, and assistant director. He is not the only child of his parents and has two siblings- sister Laura Huston and brother Matthew Huston.

Huston was only 6 years old when he decided to become an actor. His debut role was in the 2004 TV film Spartacus as a minor character. This was followed by roles in the TV film Miss Austen Regrets (2008) and films Factory Girl (2006), The Garden of Eden (2008), and Boogie Woogie (2009).

Finally, in 2010 he landed the role of Richard Harrow in the HBO television drama series Boardwalk Empire. He starred in the series from 2010 to 2013, in a total of 33 episodes.
