Jamaal Charles is a former American football player. He played college football for the University of Texas and later for Kansas City Chiefs from 2008 to 2016.

Jamaal Charles was born on December 27, 1986, in Port Arthur, Texas, USA. He was born Jamaal RaShaad Jones Charles to single mother Sharon Denise (Miller) but the name and details of his father are not known. He has a sibling, an older brother named Shanderric Charles.
As a child, he was diagnosed with a learning disability and had difficulty reading. He was frequently mocked and teased, an experience he shared in 2015 at Special Olympics,

Charles was educated at Memorial High School. There he played high school football and was a track athlete. After graduation, he attended the University of Texas from 2005–2007 where he played college football.

Charles married his longtime girlfriend Whitney Golden on June 2, 2012. They had first met in college when he was a freshman. He and his wife have welcomed three children together.
Their first two children, both daughters are named Makenzie Charles (born on March 23) and Makaila Charles (born on April 7). Their son Isaiah Jamaal Charles was born on March 12, 2017).
The couple is happy together without any rumors of extra-marital affairs or divorce.

Jamaal Charles – Career
He played for the University of Texas college football team from the 2005 season to the 2007 season. With the team, he played against Louisiana-Lafayette, Oklahoma Sooners, USC Trojans, Rice Owls, Iowa Hawkeyes, Arkansas State Indians, Red River Shootout, and Nebraska Cornhuskers.
His overall college statistics are 38 GP, 533 Att, 3,328 Yards, 6.2 Avg, 36 TDs, 49 Rec, 539 Yards, and 3 TDs. In the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft with the 73rd overall pick, Kansas City Chiefs selected Jamaal Charles.
Charles played for the Chiefs from 2008 to 2016 seasons. He was released from the Chiefs on February 28, 2017.
On May 2, 2017, he was picked up by Denver Broncos and signed a one-year, $3.75 million contract with them. Next year on October 9, 2018, he signed with Jacksonville Jaguars. After only two games with the Jacksonville Jaguars of the 2018 season, he was released from the team on October 22, 2018.
Jamaal Charles announced on April 30, 2019, that he will be signing a one-day ceremonial contract with Kansas City Chiefs so that he could retire as a Chief. He has the highest career rushing average in NFL history which is 5.5.

While in high school, Jamaal Charles was a two-time first-team Class 5A All-State selection and 2005 Parade All-American. He was also awarded Willie Ray Smith Award twice in high school.
In his professional career, he received a bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2003 World Youth Championships.
