Mitchell started his professional career as an actor in 2011. His debut role was as a 7-Eleven Cashier in the 2011 crime film Texas Killing Fields. This was followed by supporting roles in the films Contraband (2012), Dragon Eyes (2012), and Broken City (2013).
Finally, in 2015, Jason Mitchell landed his breakthrough role as rapper Eazy-E in Straight Outta Compton.
