Jay Duplass’s birth took place on March 7, 1973, in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Born as Lawrence Jay Duplass Jr. to mother Cynthia Ernst and father Lawrence Duplass, he has a sibling. His younger sibling, a brother Mark Duplass, is also a filmmaker, writer, actor, and musician.

Duplass began his career in 1995, producing the short film Connect 5. In the following years, he directed and/or produced and/or wrote short films This is John (2003), Scrapple (2004), Kevin (2011), and Authoritative Sources (2011), among others.

He is the executive producer of the TV series Wedlock (2014), Animals (2016-2018), Room 104 (2017-present), Wild Wild Country (2018), and Togetherness (2015-2016; also director and producer).
