Who is Jermell Charlo?

Jermell Charlo is a boxer by profession, American by nationality, and identical twin brother of Jermall Charlo. He held the WBC super welterweight title and as of June 2019 is ranked one of the world’s best active light-middleweight.

Jermell Charlo’s birth took place on May 19, 1990, in Richmond, Texas, United States. He was born Jermell De'Avante Charlo to his mother Terrie Charlo and his father Kevin Charlo, a former boxer. 

He is not the only child of his parents and has two siblings- an older sister and a twin brother Jermall Charlo, who is a minute older than him.

Education, Ethnicity

For education both the Charlo brothers attended Alief Hastings High School and graduated from the same.

His ethnicity is African-American.

The name of Jermell Charlo’s girlfriend has not been shared with the public. He does have two children- a son and a daughter whom he loves to feature on social media. Currently, Charlo is not married, sans wife.

Jermell Charlo – Career

Early Career

Both Jermall and Jermell Charlo began boxing after following their father into the gym. After just two years in amateur boxing, he graduated to the elite level. At the age of 15, he went on to win a bronze medal at the 2005 Junior Olympics.

Professional Boxing

Jermell Charlo began his career as a professional boxer at the age of 17. His debut match was with Corey Sommerville, which he won with a four-round decision. 

Over the years Charlo has fought against Gabriel Rosado, Mario Alberto Lozano, Vanes Martirosyan, and in the middleweight category fought against John Jackson, Charles Hatley, Erickson Lubin, Austin Trout, etc.
