His Puerto Rican parents raised him in Clifton, New Jersey alongside his five siblings- three sisters and two brothers. Two sisters of his are named Dharmita Seda, and Sofia Elena Thalheimer.

Early Days

After high school, Seda’s friends convinced him to take up boxing. So, he joined a gym and began working out. He eventually competed in the New Jersey Golden Gloves competition and secured the runner-up place. He continued his career as an amateur boxer and had 21 wins and one loss record.

Jon Seda began his career as an actor in the year 1992, his debut role being in the films Zebrahead as Vinnie and Gladiator as Romano. This was followed by appearances in the films Carlito's Way (1993), Like It Like That (1994), 12 Monkeys (1995), Primal Fear (1996), and in episodes of the TV series NYPD Blue (1994), New York Undercover (1995), among others. Finally, Seda was cast as Chris Pérez in the film Selena which is considered his breakthrough role.
