Known for directing the films Chronicle, Fantastic Four, and Capone, Josh Trank is an American film director, screenwriter, and editor.

Josh Trank was born on February 19, 1984, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Born as Joshua Benjamin Trank to mother Pamela Trank, a school teacher, and father Richard Trank, an Academy Award-winning filmmaker, he was raised with a younger sibling, a sister. His parents divorced when he was 13, and his father went on to marry comedian, Judy Toll.
In the beginning, he was not close to his stepmother. However, after Toll invited him to perform with The Groundlings, they eventually bonded over his growing love for the entertainment field.

Early Days
At the start of his career as a filmmaker, Trank began posting his videos on YouTube. His video Stabbing at Leia's 22nd Birthday became very popular overnight which put him in the spotlight. He wrote and directed a spin-off of the web miniseries The Kill Point. His next major work was as an editor, and co-producer in the independent film Big Fan, which also starred Patton Oswalt.
Finally, in 2011 Josh Trank directed his first feature film Chronicle. It was released on February 3, 2012, and a critical success- grossing over $125 million worldwide, making him the youngest director to open a film at the US box office at number one.
Films, TV Series
Following his breakthrough with Chronicle, Trank was in talks to work in the Spider-Man spin-off Venom, Warner Bros.'s The Red Star, and Sony’s Shadow of the Colossus. However, he turned them all now.
In 2015 Josh Trank directed Fantastic Four (2015). The film was a flop, receiving a 9% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. He infamously blamed the poor reviews on changes imposed by the studio and actor Toby Kebbell, who starred in the film, supported Trank’s claim. His Al Capone biopic Capone, in which he worked as a director and editor, was released in May 2020 and starred Tom Hardy.
In May 2020 it was reported he was working to create a TV series about the CIA.
