At the start of his career, Julio Peña Fernández worked in numerous theatre plays such as The Nightmare Before Christmas (2012), Miles Gloriosus (2013), Spamolot (2014), Mamma Mia! (2015), and Los Pelópidas (2016). He also honed his acting skills in musical theatre plays Alice in Wonderland (2017), Corpse Bride (2018), and Moulin Rouge (2018).

Finally, he was cast as Manuel Gutiérrez Quemola in the episodes of the TV series BIA. He portrayed the character for a total of 120 episodes from 2019 to 2022 and is considered his breakthrough role.
